*Recruits individuals for nomination to board positions
*Provides potential nominees with clear explanations of LWVM mission and policies (officer/ board member job descriptions; importance of attending board meetings; importance of board planning, decisions, evaluation; the nonpartisan policy)
*Identifies future leaders year-round through observation, letters, interviews
Promotes board service not only to serve LWVM but to grow personally
*Assures nominees that there will be a transition meeting with old board members for transfer of notes, books and pending actions plus time for questions and answers
*Seeks valuable skills from members and those who are not yet members
*Attends board meetings to understand board positions, responsibilities and operations
*Sends the Committee Report to all members one month before the Annual Meeting
(Bylaws’ Article VII, Section 2.); it is March 10, 2010.
Presents a single slate of officers and accepts nominations from the floor at the annual meeting between March 1 and April 30; it is April 10, 2010.
Maintains confidentiality within committee until presentation at annual meeting
Is responsible to the membership, not to the board (unlike other committees)
•Voter Education Committee:

*Works with Voter Services Committee to distribute voting information in the schools
Partners with the Mesquite Middle and Senior High Schools to teach reasons and procedures for voting.
*Communicates with school officials, counselors, teachers, students and governing schoolboards to determine ways to assist
*Helps educate citizens on the importance of the bond issue and school funding.
•Voter Guide Committee:
Karen Beardsley (Chair); Jean Watkins, Cindi Delaney
*Collects questions from our members for political candidates to answer in our Voter’s Guide.
*Coordinates preparation of the letters to all political candidates inviting them to respond to the question (s).
*Coordinates with Newsletter/ Publicity/ Website Committee on photos of all candidates and printing the flyer.
Asks members to help distribute the flyers to key locations.
• Design and printing of voters guide is donated by Delaney Studio.
